Welcome to the SWAP Photovoice Project. This project is designed to empower breast cancer thrivers and survivors through photography.

SWAP: Photovoice Project Kick-OffIn this Photovoice project, participants will meet online weekly for four sessions after the in-person retreat. In the orientation session, we will discuss the ethics of photography and learn about the history and empowerment goals of the Photovoice method. We also will brainstorm a list of topics and issues that are most important for the community to understand about breast cancer thrivers' experiences. Then, participants will take photos illustrating nominated topics/issues between sessions. When we come back together for two photo discussion sessions, we will not only share photos but also discuss the prevalence of the topics illustrated with the photos, why the realities captured in our photos exist, and what should be done and who should be involved in any action. Between sessions, students conduct rapid analyses of photo discussion notes using the Socioecological Framework. These analyses are presented and discussed at subsequent sessions as a reflective exercise. A final session entails reviewing photos, revisiting photo discussion notes, and using those notes to write captions for all photos. Photo and caption combinations will be featured in PowerPoint, poster, and postcard graphic designs. Each group also brainstorms a list of ideas for action needed in our communities in light of what we learn in the Photovoice project. There will be a total of four weekly sessions. After the first session, additional sessions will be scheduled based on participants’ availability.&nbsp;&nbsp;
