The Art & History Museums of Maitland (A&H) is a premier cultural destination and community gathering place in Central Florida, about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando. A&H is a group of sophisticated attractions that includes a contemporary art museum, 3 interactive history museums, and a stunning campus recognized as Greater Orlando's only National Historic Landmark. A&H also features a community art school nestled among its beautiful gardens and unique architecture. Founded in 1937 as an artists’ retreat, our space still fulfills this mission today with multiple artist residencies serving both local and international artists. A&H provides the Central Florida community with many activities every month, including free family programming, affordable site tours, and free presentations on art and history from visiting experts. Hear from and meet the featured artists Nneka Jones and Shannon Elyse, and curator Dan L. Hess, and enjoy the A&H’s beautifully lit campus at night as you explore the new exhibition! The party will also feature music by DJ Nigel John, <a href="https://myvspotrestaurant.com/" title="https://myvspotrestaurant.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">My V Spot</a> food truck, and a bar.Admission to this event is FREE! However, donations of any size are gratefully accepted with your order or at the event, in order to support our many free community programs!About the exhibition: When one speaks of a view, they are speaking about a unique vantage point or perspective. The View from Within provides a rare opportunity to do just that, enabling the viewer to look within the lives of two emerging artists, Trinidadian artist Nneka Jones and African American artist Shannon Elyse, into the fullness of their thoughts, motivations, and meditations on their artistic practice. This exhibition is a unique partnership between A&H and The Links Incorporated, an international service organization established in 1946 that consists of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent. Both the artists and the works for this engaging exhibition were selected by members of The Tampa (FL) Chapter of The Links Incorporated.Art and photographs by the artists
