Founded in 1973 as Maine Photographic Workshops,Maine Mediahas evolved into a creative center for visual storytellers across many disciplines. Offering immersive photography, filmmaking, and multimedia courses in weekend and weeklong workshops, multi-week intensives, one-year professional certificate programs, and a three-year MFA degree program, Maine Media attracts more than 1,600 students each year from all over the world.

The 2024 <a href="https://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops/summer-academy/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maine Media Academy</a> program is an immersive experience that will inspire young artists to take their work to the next level. Surrounded by peers who share their passion, they will have the opportunity to develop their creative voice and create portfolio-level work.In this free virtual event, attendees will hear from past students, faculty members, and program heads about how this program provides high schoolers with the tools, experience, and relationships they need to pursue their passions.Information covered will include program outcomes, the campus experience, and <a href="https://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops/scholarships/young-artist/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">scholarships</a> available to prospective students.

A gateway for the study of lens-based art forms, visual storytelling, and design, the Academy at Maine Media prepares you for deeper personal and academic pursuits as you embark on a career in the media arts. Students have two 6-week programs to choose from, the <a href="https://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops/item/6-week-summer-film-school-academy/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">6-Week Summer Film School</a> and <a href="https://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops/item/6-week-summer-photo-school-academy/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">6-Week Summer Photo School</a>. Students may also choose to enroll in individual 2-week filmmaking or photography workshops, or in the all-new <a href="https://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops/item/midcoast-maine-summer-arts-expedition/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">2-Week Midcoast Maine Summer Arts Expedition</a>.
