Sensual Bachata Saturdays: More Work with Sensual Position

Maria McRaven and Mario Miranda

Welcome to Sensual Bachata Saturdays! In these workshops we will cover common sensual bachata figures with a focus on lead/follow technique, body movement/conditioning, and social dance etiquette and safety. In each session we will do an in-depth focus on a specific sensual bachata concept or figure in addition to reviewing material covered in previous sessions. Each class will open with 30 minutes of stretching and conditioning exercises and end with 20-30 minutes of practice and individual instruction. Bring water and wear something comfortable for moving and stretching!

This Week
In this workshop we will continue working with sensual position and pinza technique, extending our practice to isolations, circles, and rolls led throughout the song. For leads we will cover body mechanics, transitioning between steps and standing in place, and reading and directing the follow’s weight. For follows we will cover body movement, conditioning exercises for improving fluidity and range of motion, and ways of asserting space while dancing. We will also review moves and concepts covered in previous classes.
