Join us as we celebrate the man, the legend and his greatest hits.Champagne Day is a cocktail social at the swanky Civility &amp; Unrest lounge celebrating afro-contemporary fashion, music, and lifestyle. With DJ YB &amp; Lace Cadence spinning groovy afro-pop sounds, come by sip on some champagne and enjoy a night of merriment, libations, and new connections as we toast to more life.Featuring limited tickets to the EssentiallyAfrican Experience featuring an all inclusive 3 course afro-contemporary menu, dessert and champagne in the private Tiger room. Tasting begins at 630p.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Féla Kuti was born in Nigeria in 1938. He moved to England in 1958 where he studied at the Trinity School of Music. In 1963 he returned to Nigeria where he fronted the Highlife and Jazz Band, Koola Lobitos. In 1969 he toured the USA and re-named his group Féla Ransome-Kuti and the Nigeria 70. He created his own unique style of music which named named Afrobeat, a combination of funk, jazz, salsa, Calypso and traditional Nigerian Yoruba music.In 1977, Féla and the Afrika &#x27;70 released the album Zombie, a scathing attack on Nigerian soldiers using the zombie metaphor to describe the methods of the Nigerian military. The album was a smash hit.Féla Kuti has released some of the best and most important music of the past century and has been revered by musicians such as Paul McCartney, QuestLove, Thom Yorke, Miles Davis, Bono from U2 and many more.
