Open Question (Daniel Carter, Ayumi Ishito, Eric Plaks, Zach Swanson, Jon Panikkar)Iconic New York music master Daniel Carter is perhaps best known for his masterful command of saxophones, trumpet, and many other instruments. However, his immense talent doesn’t just manifest through his considerable musical ability, Carter’s genius also lies in his ability to create ensembles. Daniel knows how to put just the right musicians together even when externally everything about them seems completely different. Once he’s created these groups, Daniel operates in gentle ways to guide artists to collaborate and unify. Never condescending, he seems to intuitively know the chemistry of a successful band. Open Question is one of those bands. The previous release from this band, Vol. 1 has been received very positively by listeners and press. Vampÿrates ( Bradley Eros &amp; Richard Sylvarnes )The Vampÿrates are the swashbuckling visual DJ duo of Bradley Eros and Richard Sylvarnes. Under cover of perpetual dusk, the Vampÿrates, are as much actors as twisted plotters, equal-opportunity impersonators, as much art as artifice, criminals of piratical lore, as they masquerade as shred guitarists, savvy roommates, lyric poets, trouvé filmmakers, or plunderphonic soundbenders, when all they really want is jewels, bloody stolen booty, swished &amp; swindled precious gems, pirated treasures of image and sound, from undead cultures that refuse to die, the so-called 'subversive blood languages' brought back to life through their trickery &amp; deceit, mischief &amp; sleight-of-hand, re-animation &amp; thievery, and particularly, their re-contextualized excavation of exquisite samples, displaying their biting wit &amp; unquenchable thirst for perversity &amp; scandal. They cannot be killed, only ghosted, yet know, as always, that these nocturnal phantoms will return in other forms, deformed. New York Necro City.

Marianne Shaneen writes fiction, essays, and poetry, and has also worked in documentary video. She has been awarded fellowships at the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Djerassi, and the Tusen Takk Foundation, and is the recipient of a NYSCA Individual Artist grant, and a Whiting Writers’ Aid grant. She received her MFA in Writing from the Bard Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts. Her work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, Bomb, The Brooklyn Rail, Manchester University Press, Vanitas, and elsewhere. She has been commissioned for numerous pieces for artists and filmmakers. Her chapbook Lucent Amnesis was published by Portable Press/Yo-Yo Labs.
