Explore the creative and meditative process of suminagashi-style paper marbling. Suminagashi translates to "floating ink" or "spilled ink." In this class, you'll explore color, shape, and swirling patterns as you float ink across the surface of the water to make marbled paper designs.You'll walk away with a collection of hand marbled papers and the knowledge of how to continue this practice at home. Marbled papers are perfect for gifts, to put in frames, to use as stationery, and generally be reminded of the beauty of the natural world. This class is perfect for beginners, anyone who wants a relaxing evening learning something new, or anyone wishing to establish a creatively empowering practice. Nourish your creative self in class, and nourish your body with refreshments for purchase from Artifact Coffee, a seasonally focused cafe located in the Woodberry neighborhood in Hampden. We'll have a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available. All materials are provided (we'll use an easy-to-use marbling kit and various papers).
