Consent is impossible. A void of communication opens up a world of misunderstanding.” In an era of such impossibilities, Control Top—Carter with guitarist Al Creedon and drummer Alex Lichtenauer—rip open space for catharsis. Their explosive songs are a synthesis of varied interests and backgrounds: Carter’s innate sense of new wave melodies, Creedon’s sirening noise guitars, Lichtenauer’s feverish hardcore drumming.MINIBEASTProvidence, RIhttps://minibeast.bandcamp.com/Minibeast is a three-piece band comprised of Peter Prescott (formerly of Mission of Burma, Volcano Suns, Kustomized, etc.) playing guitar, keys, noises (mouth and other) and the mind bending rhythm section of Keith Seidel on drums n' percussion and Niels LaWhite on bass. What we do live and on record is - get sturdy endless grooves percolatin', then plaster chanting and state altering instrumental tweaks on top and see what happens. Never play the songs exactly the same. It's liquid music, always moving. The band indirectly originates from the DC punk scene by influence and residence but explodes the signature sound of the nation's capital with a high-energy mix of Afro-disco, Mid Eastern-psychedelia and spaced-out dub. Produced and recorded by Fugazi/Rites of Spring drummer Brendan Canty, Time is Fire's debut and self-titled EP transcends mainstream influences and incorporates strong global and experimental-fusion elements into their often psychedelic and funk-inflected music.
