Learn from individuals who have turned the lessons they learned through their military service, into a voice for change. These men and women have graciously agreed to share their stories and insight in a safe and inviting location in Austin, Texas. This free event is a one time opportunity to network with established writers of all kinds, and make new connections within the veteran writers community.<h3>Conference highlights:</h3><h2>SATURDAY, October 26, 2019</h2>9:00 am Keynote: Jack Woodville London, Director of Writing Education for the Military Writers Society of America, and winner of the gold medal for best military and war novel of 2018. Presenters: 10:30 am: Daniel García Ordaz, a.k.a. The Poet Mariachi, organizes the annual Rio Grande Valley International Poetry FestivalLunchtime join Texas Folklife and record your stories as part of their Creative Forces project! 1:00 pm: A conversation with Matt Cook, screenwriter, director, and producer. Moderated by Stephanie Whallon, Texas Film Commission.3:00 pm: Co-artistic Directors of playwriting duo: Thinkery &amp; Verse: John M. Meyer and Karen Alvardo <h2>SUNDAY, October 27, 2019</h2>10 am - 12 pm: Creativity workshop by Daniel García Ordaz García Ordaz is the founder of the Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival and the Poetry Pachanga. His focus is on the power of language, which he celebrates in his writings and speaking engagements. In this workshop, we will discuss the nature of creativity and do exercises, and then, we will use this new information in writing and thinking exercises using our creative imagination.2:00 -4:00 pm: Screening and Panel Discussion, presented by the Texas Film Commission<h3>The Long Road Home, National Geographic (Episodes 1 &amp; 2) </h3> Filmed on location at Ft.
