About this event

We've finally brought our popular all-chapter winter weekend back, this time at the base of Keystone, Colorado. We'll have some fun in the snow while building stronger chapter connections. Due to requests from the community, we've moved the dates to President's Day weekend!

Join us on the slopes, or enjoy a plethora of other mountain activities like tubing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. In the evenings you can chill at the house which has a hot tub, sauna, tv, and plethora of board games. Or you can coordinate carpools over to the nearby mountain towns of Breckenridge, Frisco or Silverthorne for their various restaurants, breweries, and shops!

The Details

We've secured a longer weekend on a holiday weekend this year! Join us from Feb 15th-19th, 2024 (President's Day Weekend). As part of the ticket price, JETAARM will coordinate carpooling from Denver Intl. Airport to Keystone on the 15th, and back to the airport on the 19th.

Breakfast will be provided at the house each morning. Additionally, JETAARM will be providing dinners for those who are at the house in the evenings, including nostalgic nabe and curry nights!

Summit county is full of winter activities of all sorts! So even if you don't ski there's plenty to do during the long weekend. But if you are an avid skier, you'll have access to multiple resorts all within a 30 min drive.

Mountain Activities

  • Tubing - book a time slot at the Frisco adventure center a short drive away for snow tubing!
  • Snowshoeing & Nordic Skiing. The Keystone Nordic center is close to the house, which rents snowshoes and cross-country skis for those who want to explore the scenic nature nearby.
  • Breweries, restaurants, and shopping - those looking for a quaint mountain town experience can go to Frisco or Breckenridge. The larger city of Silverthorne is home to a large outlet mall, movie theaters, and more restaurants.
  • Relaxing at the house - enjoy the winter wonderland from the cozy warmth of the house, which has a variety of board games, hot tub, sauna, fireplaces, piano, and a scenic deck.

And of course SKIING! The house is strategically located close to all of the Summit County resorts.

  • Skiing at Keystone Resort - a fantastic resort a quick shuttle ride away consisting of 3 peaks with skiing for all levels - and even night skiing!
  • Skiing at Arapahoe Basin - an option for advanced skiers, A-Bay is just a 20 minute drive up the road famous steeps, accessible chutes, and challenging moguls.
  • Skiing at Breckenridge Resort - a 25 minute drive from the house, this massive resort is the most popular in the US with 5 peaks and a classic mountain town at the base.
  • Skiing at Copper Mountain - for those on the IKON Pass, Copper is just a ~30 drive from the mountain house and is a fantastic mountain for both the greenest beginners and the most advanced skiers.

A few notes about skiing

Day tickets are quite expensive, but a few JETs will have 'buddy discount tickets' on their ski passes depending on which resorts people want to ski. These can save a bit of money but are still a bit pricey. Colorado has 2 major ski passes, Epic (Keystone/Breck) and IKON (A-Basin/Copper). Based on who buys tickets we can coordinate groups to ski the resorts that people have access to. If you plan on skiing but do not have a pass, contact us ASAP after buying your event ticket and we can recommend the appropriate advanced tickets/ski passes that can save you hundreds of dollars. In general, we plan on skiing Keystone due to it's proximity to the house. For those on the Keystone Plus ski pass, Saturday and Sunday are blackout dates, but Friday is open to ski. All other Epic passes and pre-purchased lift tickets will work.

Ticket Info

Tickets for this event are sold by bed. The Queens and Private King bed allow for two attendees per ticket - perfect for couples to book. All tickets are priced for the entirely of the weekend, we cannot adjust the pricing based on if you plan to arrive late. But if your schedule prohibits you from arriving Thursday, you can still purchase the ticket and arrive on Friday.

This event is for JET alumni, as such we ask that you keep invites to former alumni. The obvious exception is for significant others, so you're welcome to bring a +1. Additionally, this event is 18+ due to the BYOB policy and lack of childcare amenities.

If for whatever reason you need to cancel, we can provide a full refund before Jan 19th. You will need to contact the JETAARM Treasurer at events@jetaarockymountain.org to request a refund.

Accommodations

This year we have reserved a larger private mountain house at the base of Keystone Resort! And we've added a whole extra day to the trip too, while timing it with a holiday weekend so people can get the most out of their mountain vacation.

JETAA will provide breakfasts and dinners (so long as you're at the house for dinner). For drinks it is a BYOB policy. There are supermarkets and breweries nearby to stock up. While probably obvious, no drugs - and the rental has a strict no smoking (of any kind) policy.

During the day people will coordinate in groups around activities to do. Between carpooling and the free shuttle buses in summit county, you'll be able to get around. We're all adults so we'll figure it out. With most everyone being gone during the day, lunch is on your own. If you stay out late for dinner outside of the house, that will not be covered by JETAARM.

Transit

We will be organizing carpooling from Denver Intl. Airport on the 15th. If you cannot make this date, it will be on you to figure out a way to get to Keystone. We will be driving back down on the 19th based on people's flight times. If you want to leave earlier or later this will also be your responsibility to figure out how to get back. For those from out of town who cannot carpool, there are shuttles that run directly from the airport to Keystone that you can book in advance.

We do want to limit the number of cars at the house, so if you are a local and want to drive yourself, please volunteer to drive others or forego your car and carpool with another local.

The roads in February can be quite icy and traction laws will be in effect. So this means you need at least a front wheel drive car with snow tires or a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get up to the house. If you are not familiar with driving in snow, carpool with someone who is.

For booking flights, we highly recommend booking tickets that are refundable/allow for date changes!!! We do not have the ability to refund you if you need to cancel for whatever reason. And in the unlikely event we need to cancel or change the event dates, these tiers of tickets (like Southwest's Wanna Get Away Plus) are a safer option to book.
