<h2>JOIN US to EXPLORE the Art of (a) Change</h2>Join us for the Opening Day of the METAMORPHOSIS exhibition as we celebrate 10 years of Women Writing for (a) Change in Jacksonville with10 artists on ”The Art of (a) Change.” We'll hear from artists Elena Ohlander, Nykia Jackosn, and Myna Freeman, along with keynote speaker, Melissa Ross, talking about transforming the mayor's office through women's leadership!Program:<ul><li>1-2 p.m., art plus live music</li><li>2 p.m. Opening, Jennifer Wolfe</li><li>2:05-2:20 p.m. Featured artists Nykia Jackson, Elena Ohlander, and Myah Freeman</li><li>2:20-2:30 p.m., Melissa Ross, Transforming Jacksonville through the Mayor’s Office and Women's Leadership. How do we build a healthy community? How is women’s leadership different? Where do we start the transformation process? How do we communicate? Why do women’s words matter? Why does women’s leadership matter?</li><li>2:30-2:35, Q&amp;A</li><li>2:35-3 p.m. Music, celebration, and hopefully sales of art, new journals, anthologies, and T-shirts!</li></ul>Metamorphosis: An OverviewTo design this exhibit, we looked back on the past 10 years of women writing in Jacksonville and five years of featuring women’s art along with our writing; we were curious about the difference between THEN and NOW.We asked ourselves, how have we changed, collectively and individually? How has the world changed? What remains constant? Are there moments of growth, and resilience that have defined your journey?These questions served as the starting point for our artists into the essence of personal and collective transformation, revealing the enduring imaginal cells that have remained steadfast throughout. There's so much creative power to unfurl in any transformation process.This exhibit will help YOU ask, what has YOUR journey looked like/felt like/ been like? Consider the impact of global events such as Covid, war, the specter of mortality, the challenges of divorce, the devastation of racism and sexism here and around the world, the power of education, the transformative nature of travel, the spiritual healing we've experienced, and the moments of awakening that have shaped our worldviews.Join us for the OPENING DAY celebration of transformation as we showcase the profound creative power that emerges from the depths of change. We will be here in word, art, and song.Curated by Tatiana Phoenix, and featuring Sharon Goldman, Elena Ohlander, Anna Miller, Marsha Glazière, Nykia Jackson, Barbara Hionides, Maya Freeman, Julissa Marie, Deja Gee, and Dimelza Broche.Join us as we explore this theme of METAMORPHOSIS at the intersection of women, words, art, and leadership. Any items you purchase will help women writers and artists directly, enabling us to fund future art exhibitions like this one, as well as our scholarship and accessibility programs for women writers, our college and high school interns, and diverse members of this community.Please note: Please follow CDC safety guidelines.
