With storytelling from Justin Gerhardt—creator of the acclaimed Bible storytelling podcast Holy Ghost Stories—and songs from a cadre of extraordinary musicians, this show will build a bridge between the first woman and the birth of the Christ child. The gorgeous Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett Center will serve as backdrop to the evening’s lyrics and music. More About Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett Center: Architect Henry Hibbs was commissioned to create the master plan for the new campus of Scarritt College, which moved from Kansas City, Montana to Nashville in 1924. As a part of the new Scarritt campus, Hibbs designed Wightman chapel in the classic Gothic Cathedral style. While the other early buildings were constructed of rough-faced Crab Orchard stone (from a quarry near Crossville) with smooth-faced limestone detailing, the chapel was constructed of brick and faced in matching stone. The chapel is cruciform in plan with a large, arched window on the west side outlined in limestone, above the double-door main entrance. A cross is incised in limestone in the gable above the large window. The interior walls were finished in red brick.In Hibbs' own words, "This intent will be illustrated strikingly in the chapel which will portray the spirit of worship embodied in medieval architecture…In addition to the idea of worship, it will be the aim to express in the design and construction of the Scarritt group the spirit of brotherhood, hospitality and service."
