Reflecting on how we continue to look to the Greeks and Romans as models in our responses to everything from the Boston Marathon bombings and the assassination of JFK, to the aesthetics of recent books like Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life and the novels of Karl Ove Knausgaard, to Game of Thrones and recent films about artificial intelligence—Mendelsohn filters insights through his training as a scholar of classical antiquity in surprising and illuminating ways. Bringing to the stage his range, depth, and intelligence, Mendelsohn talks with Richard Kramer to dissect culture as we know it today.

Where is the event located?This program will take place at the Kirk Douglas Theatre at 9820 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232. Where should I park?There is free three-hour covered parking at Culver City City Hall with validation, which can be processed in the Douglas lobby. Make sure to bring your parking ticket with you to the theatre. The parking rate is $1 for each 30 minutes thereafter.
