Since its founding in 1999, CTH has been a premier theatre company dedicated to reimagining great literary classics in a way that speaks to the diverse, ever-evolving communities of upper Manhattan and beyond. Its vision is to exist as a platform for powerful work that has the capacity to change lives and reflect the various creeds, colors, and ideologies that form America. Since its founding, CTH has presented a repertory of works ranging from the classical to the contemporary and has also been committed to featuring the works of new and emerging playwrights. CTH seeks to create comprehensive access for theatre artists of diverse backgrounds, including actors, directors, designers, playwrights, technicians, and administrators.

"RIGHT/WRITE TO HEAL" Work In Progress Showcase with Reception &amp; TalkbackJoin us for an inspiring evening of creative expression and collective healing at our "RIGHT/WRITE TO HEAL" Work in-Progress Showcase! This in-person event, presented in partnership with the Classical Theatre of Harlem, Columbia University’s Center for Justice and V-Day. This residency is based on the belief that the time is overdue for women to tell their own stories, in their own voices, about how they came to be incarcerated, what prison has done to their lives, and what they face on the inside and after being released.The Right/Write to Heal Residency is a 5 week, multi organizational organizing effort to creatively uplift and center the stories of formerly incarcerated women and femmes. This residency is co-produced by the Classical Theatre Of Harlem, The Center for Justice at Columbia University and V-Day. This 5-week writing and script development residency is designed to develop an original script through the lens of the participants' lived experience, storytelling and creative writing. The residency aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for women to explore their experiences, heal from trauma, develop resilience, and share their stories with the world.Before our stage reading, join us for a short reception beforehand, where you can mingle with the artists and fellow attendees. It's a great opportunity to connect with these incredible individuals and discuss the powerful impact of art on healing.We'll also have a talkback session where you can engage in a meaningful conversation with the performers.
