Vizcaya Late | Holiday Evening

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering to engage our community and its visitors in learning through the arts, history and the environment. Built between 1914 and 1922, Vizcaya is one of the most intact remaining examples from this era in United States history, when the nation’s most successful entrepreneurs built estates inspired by the stately homes of Europe. Vizcaya features a Main House filled with a decorative art collection, 10 acres of formal gardens, a rockland hammock (native forest), mangrove shore, and a historic village that is being restored to tell Vizcaya’s full story and provide additional spaces for programs and community outreach, including those on agriculture. Vizcaya has been a community hub since it opened to the public in 1953; it currently welcomes about 300,000 visitors annually.Located on Biscayne Bay at 3251 South Miami Avenue, Vizcaya is open Wednesday through Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Vizcaya Late

Vizcaya Late is a monthly after-hours program offering locals and visitors the chance to experience Vizcaya in a new light. Each month explores a different theme through art, music, and community connection.

Vizcaya first opened its doors as a private residence on Christmas Day 1916 and we celebrate by decorating the Main House as it might have been over 100 years ago. Join us as we celebrate the season with LIGHT!MAKE | Whether you’re visiting with children or talented artisans, guests can get in the spirit with art-making for all ages and skill levels. We'll be making holiday laterns!LEARN | You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the estate and explore the illuminated formal gardens.LISTEN | The Children's Voice Chorus will perform a special program of music that celebrates the winter season, drawing from various traditions around the world.SEE | The Main House will be decorated for the season as might have been done 100 years ago, including garland strung from the balconies and inside the Courtyard. The Dining Room table set for entertaining. And an old-timey Christmas tree decorated in the East Loggia.SHINE | Bring the lantern you created as we gather around the Center Island in the Main Garden. There, the chorus will lead the community in sing-alongs.

This program is presented in partnership with <a href="https://www.thechildrensvoice.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Children's Voice Chorus</a> which empowers diverse young people in Miami with artistic and life skills through experiences in vocal music.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are not sold at door. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
