About Solar One and the Climate + Energy Education Intensive

NYCPS is working with DCAS on a mayoral initiative to install 100 MW of solar on City-owned buildings by 2025.  A key goal of the NYC Solar Schools Education Program, now called the Climate + Energy Education Intensive, is to connect the solar installations on school buildings to curriculum, allowing teachers to use solar as a tool for students to learn about renewable energy and sustainability, and as a catalyst for STEM learning. Solar One’s K-12 curriculum, GDL, is a STEM-focused, interdisciplinary curriculum that provides students with hands-on experiential learning. Topics include: solar field study, wind turbines, carbon cycle, energy storage and more.
