For this 3-mile route inspired by The Great Believers, lace up your running shoes and get ready to explore the streets of Lakeview that set the backdrop for Fiona and Yale's love, loss, and tragedy. We'll hear from LGBTQ elders and activists that would have been these characters’ contemporaries, including journalist, author, and publisher <a href="https://chicagolgbthalloffame.org/baim-tracy/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tracy Baim</a>, historian and author <a href="https://www.owenkeehnen.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Owen </a> <a href="https://www.owenkeehnen.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Keehnen</a>, community organizator Arnie Aprill, and others.This unique experience combines movement and literature, an the exclusive opportunity to engage with Rebecca Makkai in an intimate setting. Don't miss this opportunity to dive into the devastating and gripping world of The Great Believers and the real-life Chicago history behind it. Here are all the details: MEET: Meet between 8:55am-9am at Third Space (<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/MoCEuR81W98qttQn7" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">716 W Addison</a>) on Saturday, October 28. Runners may leave personal items at the venue. The program will begin promptly at 9am. ROUTE: We’ll run an easy-paced (~11:00 min/mile), 3-mile route in Lakeview with 4 brief stops. Each stop will last between 5-7 minutes. If you’re hoping for a longer or more intense run, plan to do your workout prior to joining the group. Quinn Sluzenski is making a zine of the route for you to follow along, so you'll have this souvenir to take home!OPTIONAL PREPARE: Because this event is a tour, it is optional to read The Great Believers ahead of time. Runners will settle into the space, grab light bites and have the option to purchase their copy of the book. The program with Rebecca will begin at 11am. After the Q&A, runners will be able to socialize until 12pm.
