Why did you switch to EventBrite?

A lot of time and effort went into to the processing of Club registration requiring phone calls, the sending of emails, paperwork and other items and so a switch was made to EventBrite to free up staff and volunteer time to focus on the actual Club fun, and to simplify the process.

Question 2

What are the staff/volunteer to participant ratios?

Accepted Answer

There is no set ratio at this time, but the max ratio is 10:1, and the average ratio is 5:1 met by a combination of paid staff and our wonderful volunteers.

Question 3

What if I'm new?

Accepted Answer

A member of a participant's circle of trust (e.g. parent) is asked to stay approximately one (1) hour for the first event to make sure the event is appropriate for the participant and that the participant can be sufficiently supported at the event.

What if the participant normally has 1:1 support?

Accepted Answer

If a participant typically needs 1:1 support in a school or other setting, it is important to let Beacons know as 1:1 support will likely be needed for Club activities as well. The individual providing the 1:1 support to the participant attends without a charge as a reasonable accommodation.

Question 5

Do people have to dress per the theme?

Accepted Answer

No, but it sure is fun if they do! Most people attending and facilitating are dressed for the occasion (theme). But, the goal is for people to have fun and be comfortable so if someone doesn't want to wear a costume, please feel free to come as you are! ?

Do you need help setting up or to facilitate activities?

Question 7

I  see that food is served. What if someone has an allergy?

It is VERY important to complete the registration form to alert Beacons of any allergies. All registrations are reviewed by a member of our Club team for allergies or other medical items, but please contact Club@BeaconsNorthCounty.com if you wish to learn about food and drink items being served.

How long have you provided Club?

Club Beacons was started in 2018 by parents who started Beacons. It was one of the first of its kind and was the first option Beacons offered when it opened its doors in November 2018.  Other similar activities have since popped up in North County to expand social opportunities.

Question 9

What about peers or peer volunteers?

Accepted Answer

Club volunteers are typically peer volunteers from the community and service groups such as the National Charity League Surf Cities, Teen Volunteers in Action, local churches/faith groups, and college groups.  Interested in volunteering, please contact Club@BeaconsNorthCounty.com!
