SHIFTING LANDSCAPES: An Immersive Exhibition

During both weekends of the Shifting Landscapes Immersive Exhibition, we will be hosting a series of special events, including film screenings and conversations with the exhibition’s artists and Emergence contributors.

Nigerian-British poet and Booker Prize–winning novelist Ben Okri will read his poem “Earth Cries” and an excerpt from his book Tiger Work, which explore the dissolution of the world we have known and the possibilities emerging in its wake.Ben Okri is a Nigerian poet, novelist, and playwright. His many books and poetry collections include Prayer for the Living, The Freedom Artist, and Rise Like Lions: Poetry for the Many. His novel The Famished Road was the recipient of the Booker Prize for Fiction.This presentation is part of the special weekend event series held within Emergence Magazine’s SHIFTING LANDSCAPES immersive exhibition. Bearing witness to the Earth’s rapid transformations, this exhibition invites you to see, touch, hear, and breathe—to feel into and participate in—the spaces of connection and kinship held here. As these works draw us out of our human exceptionalism towards kinship with the living world, might we remember ourselves as an extension of the changing Earth? What seeds of reciprocity, of abundant mutual care, might take root?Tickets are not required for entry, but priority will be given to ticket holders.
