Founded in 1978 by dance and expressive arts therapy pioneers Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin, Tamalpa Institute is internationally recognized for its unique approach to movement, dance, and expressive arts therapy and education. Saturday, November 18 | 9am - 12pm PT | $45REGISTRATION CLOSES at the start of the workshop.Who is someone in your life who you would like to honor? Who has supported you, or been a good friend, or made life more meaningful?We will each come to this workshop with one specific person to honor. We will come together in community to appreciate the people who have been important in our lives and dedicate our art and dances to them. Perhaps you want to honor a best friend, or a deceased parent, or an influential teacher, a quickly-growing child, an ancestor you’ve never met — or even an aspect of yourself like an inner guide who you would like to thank. Whomever you choose, what gifts have you received from them? How do they live in your soma, in your body, emotions, imagination and memories? How would you like to honor them and your relationship through art and ritual? Through guided imagery, somatic explorations, drawing, creative writing, dance and sharing, we will use the Tamalpa Life/Art Process® to focus our attention on the people in our lives who have made us who we are.N﻿o experience necessary.Please have a comfortable space to move and have drawing and writing materials on hand.To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.NATAN DASKAL is a dancer, educator, and bodyworker and has taught movement and the expressive arts to children, youth, and adults in diverse settings. A member of Tamalpa’s core faculty since 2016, he has extensive teaching experience working directly with Anna Halprin as her teaching assistant in public workshops and classes. Natan studied ballet at the Joffrey School in New York City, received his BFA in Communication Design at Parsons the New School for Design, and received his MA in Education at Goddard College where he studied the intersection of somatics, creativity, and community education. He is also a Certified Massage Therapist, Craniosacral Therapist, and has completed certification programs in somatic education at Moving on Center, and in mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy at the Hakomi Institute of California. <a href="https://www.natandaskal.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Natandaskal.com</a>P﻿hoto by Rick ChapmanRefunds will only be given if cancellation is received at least 48 hours before the start of the workshop.
