The Guild

It’s time to get back together! Announcing our first in-person event since 2019 and our first convening as Throughline Learning (formerly Highlander Institute). Wellbeing, mental health, SEL, and trauma-informed practices are critical topics across districts, schools, and classrooms. Join us to hear from Dr. Richard Booth, Clinician, Private Practice and Brown University; and Malika Ali, Chief Innovation Officer at Throughline Learning, as they weave together research, stories, classroom strategies, and systems to support compassionate community-building within schools. As always, this event will combine meaningful, relevant information with refreshments and abundant networking opportunities. Tickets include 1 beer, wine, or soft drink token; appetizers; and convenient parking. A﻿bout the Speakers<a href="https://richardboothphd.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">D﻿r. Richard Booth</a> is a clinician in private practice and at Brown University. His areas of specialty sit at the intersections between the impact of trauma, cultural competency, teaching and learning, and mental health. Dr. Booth also serves as a consultant for public and private schools as well as companies and institutions in the public and private sectors. He is a Board member at the Village Green Charter School and a core member of The Wellness Collaborative.Born in Jamaica and educated in inner city Boston, Dr. Booth earned his Ph.D. in Counseling and School Psychology from Northeastern University; his M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Suffolk University; and his B.S. in English and Sociology from Bridgewater State University. <a href="https://throughlinelearning.org/home/#intro" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">M﻿alika Ali</a> is the Chief Innovation Officer at Throughline Learning (formerly Highlander Institute). In this role, she sets vision and strategy for program development across multifaceted partnerships. As a daughter of strong and brilliant Eritrean refugees, Malika is passionate about critiquing the systems that perpetuate educational inequity, and working to ensure that all children have access to an empowering education.Malika holds an M.Ed. in Education Policy and Management from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Public Health from Brown University. She was a Rhode Island District Teacher of the Year and was named one of the nation’s top emerging and inspirational Black leaders in education innovation by LearnLaunch.
