Dear fellow CEC members-I hope everyone had a great summer! We are getting ready to kick off our next CEC season and we have a fantastic calendar of events planned. Sorry for the lengthy letter but I have a lot of great information to share. Happy reading!September Dinner MeetingOur next event will be at the beautiful St. Jane Hotel – an Art Deco treasure and Chicago Landmark. The shape of the building resembles a vintage green champagne bottle with a gold leaf top, which was thought to be inspired by the Prohibition Era. This amazing gem is named in honor of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jane Addams, who was a pioneering Chicagoan and tireless activist. The St. Jane carries her legacy through by striving to be “a stomping ground for all tastes” with each of their spaces creating a different vibe and experience with one common goal – to provide a “common ground for the uncommon”. Another highlight to our September event is that our own Andre LaCour, with LaCour Images, will be providing complimentary headshots for all current CEC members! What a great way to kick-off our season!Reservation PolicyPlease note that our reservation policy will be changing for the upcoming year. In order to give venues timely and proper counts, we will now require RSVP’s no later than 8 days prior to each event. Reservations can be added after that time at the guest rate of $95 up until 6 days prior to the event by 5pm. No reservations will be accepted after this final deadline.New WebsiteOur updated website is in full swing and we hope you enjoy the new layout. Please create your own personal log-in so a member directory can be created. Your requests will be approved by an administrator. Our goal with a member log-in is to provide our members with a secure access to our membership directory and any other information to share as a group within the membership. We are still tweaking some bugs and appreciate hearing from you if you are experiencing any issues. It is still a work in progress and we appreciate your patience.Membership IncentivesWe are also rolling out a new incentive for membership. Members will receive one free dinner meeting for every new member they get to join CEC. We also have an incentive for new members to join. For any prospective members who attend a monthly dinner meeting and join within 30 days, they will receive 50% off of the normal $200 initiation fee. There is no better time to join CEC and refer friends and colleagues! Join a CommitteeAs we know in this business, job changes, demands and relocations happen frequently. Those of us who serve on the volunteer board of CEC are always looking for passionate and innovative individuals to help us achieve our goals as an organization. If anyone is looking to be more involved, we could use some assistance, specifically on our Planning, Marketing and Technology Committee.
