Amelia Island Singers present: Music of the Stage

Amelia Island Singers was founded by Toni Myers in 2022 and is already a thriving, tax-exempt choral organization of over 70 singers. Comfortable with a broad scope of musical offerings, Amelia Island Singers performs a wide variety of choral music. Myers believes that octavos are small masterpieces in and of themselves and Amelia Island Singers performs beloved octavos alongside great choral masterworks. Community choral singing is and always has been alive and well in Nassau County!

Broadway and opera may feel like separate entities, but the relationship between the two are undeniable. They both draw on a theater tradition that extends back to Ancient Greece, and both combine music and text to bring powerful stories to the stage. Opera—along with dancing, acting, and other art forms—ultimately lay the groundwork for the modern musical theater seen on Broadway today.Join Amelia Island Singers and Amelia Island Opera as we explore Music of the Stage: From Opera to Broadway, presented for one night only on Friday, April 12, 2024. You’ll hear music from shows like Aida, Rigoletto, Man of La Mancha, and Phantom of the Opera, sung by the Amelia Island Singers and four Amelia Island Opera soloists, accompanied by a professional orchestra, generously sponsored in part by The Burroughs Family Foundation, under the direction of Toni Myers.
