Click for Info &amp; Purchase</a>In the ‘60s, baby boomers looked for God in a sugar cube, The Beatles sought enlightenment in India and hippies freaked over Jesus. As the post-summer of love, pre-New Age ‘70s rolled in, the inner-searching of The Aquarian Age expanded to a hunt for the truth that was out there…way out there. The existence of a higher power, nature of life after death, whereabouts of the lost empire of Atlantis, telepathic abilities of houseplants, sentience of yogurt, and how to bend a fork with your mind – all were wide open for inquiry and exploration. Psychic surgery? Hypnosis? ESP? UFOs? The Bermuda Triangle? They all held a fascination for Mr. and Mrs. America. It was a “Phenomena Phenomenon”, if you will. Reflecting these various crazes, a host of “speculative documentaries” quickly cropped up in grindhouses, drive-ins, and even living rooms – as host Leonard Nimoy led primetime TV viewers on weekly expeditions In Search Of… the paranormal and mysterious. Tuesdays in October, EXP TV will lead us deep into the heart of the unexplained. Together, through a series of original programs and rare film selections, we’ll have our minds warped and reality punctured as we explore pyramid power and mind reading, search for Bigfoot, and discover why the answer to most of life’s mysteries is “aliens.”EXP TV invites you to investigate the mysteries of our universe with us — join us for PhenomeCon!“This series presents information based in part on theory and conjecture. The producers’ purpose is to suggest some possible explanations, but not necessarily the only ones, to the mysteries we will examine.”____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Prepare your sigils and don your tannis root talismans, as EXP TV welcomes Bibliomancers for a bewitching evening celebrating the greatly anticipated second printing of their sold-out hit Spell Bound: Exploring Witchcraft and the Occult Through Vintage Paperbacks! Let us assemble for this hallowed official launch party, to get our copies of the hot-off-the-presses second edition (limited to 666 numbered copies and featuring a newly designed special cover) plus t-shirts, special posters, and other exclusive, event-only Spell Bound merchandise designed by Astraleyes, Bibliomancers’ creator and owner. Then together we shall conjure our evening’s enchantments: EXP TV’s original Witches Brew movie and an incredibly rare screening of the underseen but quintessential witchcraft documentary – The Occult Experience! 7:00 ➌ WITCHES BREW—Arts EXP TV invites you to an evening of enchantment with our Witches Brew movie. A tour through the history of witches and witchcraft in cinema. Choice cuts of rare and archival footage explore the many, varied depictions of that eternal cultural icon - The Witch. From cartoons to “after dark” cinema to the avant garde – see the incantations, invocations and rituals that have been putting spells on audiences for decades. ☽50 mins.THE OCCULT EXPERIENCE (1985)“How does it feel to be a witch in the computer age?”Blind-folded initiation rites, ritualistic fire pageantry, spiritual possessions, suburban witches and warlocks (with a giant pentagram adorned living room), an incredible goddess-worship ceremony in an Irish cave, and a veritable who’s-who of legendary occult figures – The Occult Experience has everything you’d want from a documentary bearing its name. Fascinated by latter-20th Century witchcraft and occultism, Australian documentarian Frank Heimans teamed up with renowned occult scholar and author Nevill Drury (Stealing Fire From Heaven, Pan’s Daughter, The Dictionary of the Esoteric) to create what stands as a quintessential – though underseen – documentary on modern western esoteric religions and spiritual movements. Touring through Hellenism, Alexandrian Wicca, The Temple of Set, The Church of Satan, Dianic Witchcraft, The Fellowship of Isis, and housewives’ “white magic,” Heimans was granted seemingly unprecedented access to arcane covens and congregations, capturing unforgettable and unparalleled footage along the way. Featuring contemporary and archival interviews with Rosaleen Norton, Anton LaVey, Selena Fox, Alex Sanders, Stewart and Janet Farrar and many more towering occult figures, as well as Margot Adler (the film plays out like an 80s, on-screen version of her classic Drawing Down The Moon), parapsychologist Charles Tart, transpersonal psychologist Stanislav Grof (primal scream therapy as modern day exorcism!), and a studio visit with legendary artist H.R. Giger. Barely ever screened theatrically and never on DVD, do not miss this unbelievably rare opportunity to experience The Occult Experience!Dir. Frank Heimans, 1985, 87 mins.Special Thanks to Screen Australia, Cinetel Productions, and Frank Heimans.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABOUT EXP TV“I believe in a long, prolonged derangement of the senses in order to obtain the unknown.” - Jim MorrisonEXP TV is…a 24/7 live TV channel broadcasting an endless stream of obscure media and video ephemera at exptv.org.
