Data Puzzles Webinar Series: Helping Students "Muck About" in their Data

Explore different ways to help students "muck about" with data to get comfortable with and better understand it!

Join us on Thursday, September 28th from 3-4:15 pm PT, 4-5:15 pm MT, 5-6:15 pm CT, 6-7:15 pm ET as guest presenter Kristin Hunter-Thomson from <a href="https://dataspire.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dataspire</a> describes different ways we can help students &quot;muck about&quot; with data to get comfortable with and better understand it. Kristin will discuss the importance of exploratory data analysis (&quot;mucking about&quot;) as a complement to more traditional data analysis strategies (make a claim from data). We&#x27;ll also practice and discuss how to leverage features in and tools beyond Google Sheets to assist in this work. Finally, we&#x27;ll reflect on how these strategies and tools can be integrated into Data Puzzle lesson sets.<ul><li>P﻿lease note that attendees will receive professional learning certificates from the University of Colorado Boulder!</li></ul>Meet Krstin Hunter-ThomspnKristin has worked in science and science education for 20 years in various locations around the U.S. and abroad. Currently, she runs Dataspire Education &amp; Evaluation, LLC to facilitate data and science education professional learning for teachers in grades 3-16, to develop data-focused educational resources, and to evaluate STEM educational programs.
