Help Restore Critical Habitat on the Amazing West Walker River!

Wilson Canyon Rest Area

Join the Walker Basin Conservancy, Nevada Off-road Association, and the Bureau of Land Management in conducting a restoration project at Wilson Canyon on September 30th, 2023, 9am-1pm, in recognition of National Public Lands Day! Help us restore critical riparian habitat along the west Walker River and protect public access to this popular outdoor recreation area. Please bring a water bottle (will have coolers for refills), long pants, sturdy shoes, and sun protection. Bring gardening/work gloves if you have them, there will be extras for those who don’t. The Conservancy will provide the tools, supplies, and plants necessary for the project as well as coffee in the morning, ice water throughout the day, and a light lunch.We will meet at the BLM Recreation Area on Copper Belt Road just north of the bridge and west of the highway. Please arrive between 8:30am and 9am, coffee will be provided. 9am-12pm Riparian Restoration Planting with the WBC Restoration Team. 12-1pm Lunch and discussion about the project, riparian habitat, and water quality in the basin.
