A Quaker minister, scholar of Buddhism, art therapist, and meditation instructor guide attendees in paths leading to a quiet state.

<h2>Quiet as a Gateway</h2><p>Quiet can reduce stress, enhance creativity, and deepen a sense of tranquility. It is a space – and practice – that encourages self-exploration and can help lead to a deeper understanding of our place in the universe. Guided by practitioners of different meditative and philosophical approaches, as well as a (secular) artist, this event invites guests to feel the power of quiet through dialogue, practice, and art-making activities.</p><p>This 2023 Spirit &amp; Place Festival Event is a partnership between IUPUI Senior Academy and Indianapolis First Friends Meeting. </p><p>ASL provided if requested before November 3, 2023.</p><p><strong>Event Registration:</strong> Registration requested by 11/9/2023. Walk-ins welcome. </p><p><strong>Parking &amp; Entry: </strong>Free parking with handicap spaces to the east of the building.</p><h3>About the IUPUI Senior Academy</h3><p>The<a href="https://senioracademy.iupui.edu" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> IUPUI Senior Academy </a>is an independent association of retired faculty and staff who contribute their expertise and experience to the University and to the greater community. The Senior Academy, with the assistance of the University, encourages and assists scholarly, professional, educational, and service interests of the members, enabling them to continue to contribute to the campus and its programs.</p><h3>A﻿bout Spirit &amp; Place</h3><p>The Spirit &amp; Place Festival (Nov. 2-12) celebrates the powerful role the arts, humanities, and religion play in community life and is housed in the IU School of Liberal Arts in Indianapolis.
