4﻿:00 The Ethics of Ancient DNA Research (Justin Lund)Genomics and DNA analyses are leading to some remarkable breakthroughs to understand biological histories around the world. However, with any significant technological advancement, like genomics, there are ethical questions that arise. Specifically, there are rich discussions about the changing ethical landscape of aDNA studied in Indigenous communities. The presentation will discuss some of the ethical, legal, and social implications of genomics today. 5﻿:00 Climate Change and the Colorado River Compact&#x27;s Next 100 Years (Tim Duane)Climate change is already affecting the American West as the aridification of the Colorado River basin has directly reduced the amount of regional snowfall and rainfall that now reaches the Colorado River. The seven states that signed the Colorado Compact in 1922 are now struggling to find a long-term water management system that reflects the impact of climate change and long-term droughts. This past winter may have deferred the reckoning, but climate change requires some fundamental changes to the Colorado Compact.
