TheHenry Miller Memorial Libraryis a public beneﬁt, non-proﬁt 501 (c) 3 organization championing the literary, artistic and cultural contributions of the late writer, artist, and Big Sur resident Henry Miller. The Library tries to do as little as possible since we are in Big Sur a place very well suited for doing nothing. It turns out to be difficult however because Henry Miller is egging us on to promote the things he believes make life worth living like good conversation, freedom of thought, good food, sex and art in all its forms; old, new, weird and varied! Welcome!

We welcome Jeannette to discuss “Feathered Canyons: Finding Treasures in the Golden State,” which documents her time in Big Sur in the 60s

<a href="https://safarizona.com/?page_id=169" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jeannette Hanby</a> grew up in a paved-over Southern California “wanting to know how to stop humans from ruining the planet.”After a high school teacher exposed her to philosophy, Jeannette majored in physiological psychology at UC Berkeley before working with abandoned and abused children in Los Angeles County.Emotionally exhausted, she found refuge in Big Sur. (Sounds familiar!)Her new book, <a href="https://safarizona.com/?page_id=11" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">"Feathered Canyons,"</a> illustrated by her partner David Bygott, reflects on her pivotal time in the area in the 60s as well as her stint with a gold-mining crew on the Feather River in the High Sierras.Join us on Sunday October 8th at 2 pm as Magnus chats with Jeannette under the <a href="https://henrymiller.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/under-the-per.jpg" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">fabled persimmon tree</a> to discuss her book, how she and David spent most of their life in East Africa (that's them below in the Serengeti Plains), and an assortment of adventures and observations (known as "Safarizona") in these and other places!There will also be home baked ‘goodies,’ rosé wine, coffee and tea…C﻿an't wait until October 8th?
