Join us for a live performance by Chicago-based artist Ava Wanbli, whose artwork "Sertraline Dolls" is on view in the Museum.

Join us for a live performance by Chicago-based artist Ava Wanbli, whose video game-based work Sertraline Dolls is on view in the Imprint Gallery at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Wanbli’s performance is an extension of the installation artwork and will take place in MMoCA’s Lecture Hall. Advance registration on Eventbrite is required to attend this admission-free program.Wanbli will perform on stage with a 3-D printed manifestation of her “old” body as a meditation on collapsing temporalities, reconnections of desires through sexual expression, and how our bodies are consumed through media. She utilizes the experience of being a trans sex worker within virtual spaces as a vehicle to communicate how modern formats of technology affect the development of the persona.The artist encourages attendees to record and photograph the performance on their personal devices, and tag her on Instagram @AvaMirage.The artist would like visitors to be aware of the subject matter of the performance before deciding to attend. The performance references to sex work and death, and includes loud noises, intense soundscapes, nudity, and penetrative acts.Be sure to arrive a bit early to experience the video game-based artwork &quot;Sertraline Dolls&quot; in Imprint Gallery while you are at MMoCA. The installation will be open until 6 PM, as will the rest of the Museum’s exhibitions.
