Austin Creative Reuse Center

Participants will shop together for the most abstract, unrecognizable, and bizarre materials they can find in ACR&#x27;s most miscellaneous department. Back in the workshop, our group will arrange those materials into visually satisfying compositions to observe, sketch, and memorialize in brilliant, colorful, still life paintings.Participants will practice painting from observation and creating dynamic compositions, while at the same time letting go of the pressure to make their finished work look like something recognizable.Pencils, paper, acrylic paint, brushes, and primed canvases will be provided. Each participant will take home their own abstract still-life painting on stretched or mounted canvas.This workshop is appropriate for ages 11+ only. Minors do not have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop. Adults must come inside to drop their child off with the workshop instructor. Drop off begins 10 minutes before the scheduled start time, and everyone must be picked up at the scheduled end of the workshop. You can find her combing Austin Creative Reuse for objects and materials that will expand her visual vocabulary. She is also a core volunteer at ACR, who specializes in sorting our paint supply.
