Shannon Downey is an artist, activist, craftivist, community builder, and general instigator. Feel like stabbing some shit? I&#x27;ve got you. Join me and a dozen other amazing humans for this two-hour workshop at Chicago&#x27;s newest embroidery spot, <a href="https://maydel.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maydel</a>. In it, you will learn everything you need to know to stitch staggering works of genius. I will teach you about the materials, how to get set up to stitch, working with patterns or designing your own pieces, and then we stitch. There&#x27;s much to learn and it&#x27;s zero-pressure and wicked fun. You can either bring your own materials for this workshop or buy a kit with everything you need from Maydel. I﻿f you are bringing your own, here&#x27;s what you need:<ul><li>an embroidery hoop (5-7&quot; is usually best but any size will do)</li><li>a piece of light colored cotton fabric (got a tea towel or old sheets around? Use those)</li><li>a tapestry, chenille, or embroidery needle </li><li>pair of scissors</li><li>embroidery floss (whatever colors you like)</li><li>a water erasable marking pen, transfer pen, or friction pen </li></ul>That said, Maydel has created a kit just for this workshop with all of your supplies. The cost of the bundle is approx $16. Maydel is an ethically-sourced, women-owned business and I am a big fan. You can order ahead and the kit will be waiting for you at the shop.
