Where is the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre?

The Hyers is on the bottom floor of the Cultural Center in downtown Greensboro at 200 N. Davie Street.

Are masks required?

Masks are not required but  are recommended as Covid infection rates are increasing.  Please note the Hyers is in  city-owned property and any city mandates in place regarding masking will be enforced

Where is parking?

Accepted Answer

Park in the Church Street Deck,  215 N Church Street, directly behind the Cultural Center and next to the Greensboro Public Library. Free parking but you will take a ticket to enter.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible!

Absolutely!

Question 5

How is the the seating arranged? My body is larger and I want to make sure I'm comfortable.

Accepted Answer

The Stephen D. Hyers is a black box theatre with movable seating that will accommodate different bodies. We've removed some chairs to make sure all body types have space. A few steps are involved for those with mobility issues.

Question 6

I see the show addresses sexual assault. Will I be triggered?

Accepted Answer

American Body does deal (partly) with sexual assault in a humorous, tender way. The show is absolutely not a trauma narrative, nor is the sexual assault the main focus.  Solo show work is an opportunity to create a brave space to explore all sorts of topics.

I have a small child. Can I bring them with me to the show?

Accepted Answer

Solo show works means only one actor is on stage at all times. Cell phone use, chatter, and guests unable to remain quiet could be a distraction for the actor in such an intimate venue.

How long is American Body?

Accepted Answer

American Body is approximately 70 minutes with a short (15 minutes) audience talk back after.
