Thriving Women's Circle was created to support women of color and foster a community of like-minded women. Topics are rooted in confidence building, self-esteem and supporting life transitions through a model of women empowering women.

There will be an optional coaching session and networking from 7pm - 7:30pm.

About the Coaches

Jenjii Hysten is an energetic strategist and teacher who builds the capacity of leaders to be effective. As CEO of Blaze Consulting Group, she provides coaching, training, facilitation and consultation to public and private companies that impact our daily lives. Beloved for her ability to bring diverse groups of people together to have honest, heart opening conversations that lead to action. Jenjii quickly assesses complex human and organizational issues to develop creative solutions that solve problems. She inspires leaders to have honest, heart opening conversations that lead to action. She shows audiences how to turn challenges into a catalyst for transformation. These qualities make her a go-to keynote speaker, coach and consultant for organizations, associations, and conferences across industries and sectors. Prior to launching Blaze Consulting Group, Jenjii was the founding Executive Director of Saving Our Sisters, Saving Ourselves. Jenjii is also the author of Beyond the Hashtag: The Spirit, Heart and Love of Black Men.

After serving nonprofits and public schools for over 20 years, Etsuko Kubo now contributes to the nonprofitand public sector as a consultant who offers coaching, group facilitation, and program development support. Experiences that paved the way for Etsuko’s current contribution include working in youth development programming, providing administrative services for a public charter high school, teaching integrated humanities, and looping with a class of high school students, implementing a place-based education initiative with community and school leaders, and more recently coaching and leading a statewide adult leadership program for nonprofit and public sector professionals. As a fourth generation, Japanese American Buddhist woman who grew up in California’s central valley, Etsuko works towards co-creating racially equitable spaces, structures, and systems. Since 2007, Etsuko is a proud resident of South Richmond in the San Francisco Bay Area. She lives there with her husband Mark, and their two children Isa and Tomás.

Parking: Parking: Due to our convenient location Downtown Oakland, we highly encourage those that are able to take public transportation. We are located just one block from the 12th St/Oakland City Center BART Station. Metered street parking and garage parking are available for purchase.
