Join us Wednesday, September 6th from 6-8pm for a discussion with labor journalist Kim Kelly and Alejandra Quintero.

Room 460 (4th Floor), J. Paul Leonard Library

This discussion will make connections between historical labor struggles and labor organizing in the contemporary. Kim Kelly’s new book, Fight Like Hell provides a look at working class struggles in the United States, detailing the stories of coal miners, sex workers, farmworkers, disability rights activists, and incarcerated workers as they fought for a better world. In this time of crushing conditions of racial capitalism and an uptick in workplace organizing and strike actions, we can learn from the lessons of the past to inform our present struggle.Kim Kelly is an independent journalist, author, and organizer. She has written about labor, class, politics, and music for Teen Vogue, The New Republic, and VICE, among many others.Alejandra Quintero is a graduate student in Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations who has written about labor issues for Labor Notes and Jacobin. This event will be held at the Labor Archives on the San Francisco State University Campus. We are located in Room 460 (on the 4th floor) of the J. Paul Leonard Library, 1630 Holloway Ave, San Francisco, CA.There are many options for getting to campus–we are located off of the Muni Line M, the bus routes 28 and 29. Transportation Options: Take BART from the East Bay and transfer to Muni at Civic Center Station.Take BART to Daly City Station and transfer to the 28 bus. Drive to campus. There are limited free parking spots on 19th Ave and Junipero Serra Blvd (5-10 min walk to the library). Guests can also park at Lot 20 on campus for $6 (10 min walk to the library).
