Song kin Shireen Amini and Lyndsey Scott merge their medicines for the first time for an East Coast song circle tour! As students of, as well as leaders in, the community singing movement, they are asking-in-motion about song’s liberatory power. Co-creating a space of authentic, playful, &amp; deep devotion, they will forge a strong container to hold the complexities of each of our identities and histories intersecting. Through heart sharing, somatics, song, and rhythmic expression, they will invite energy to re-whole us in our individual and collective bodies: grounding, attuning, grieving, releasing, connecting, and celebrating. We’ll ask, what’s needed here now? What’s possible when we open our hearts to this aching world and dare the soulful risks it asks? May we be the world we dream, in real time, as song washes over us with grace that overflows into action.<h3>Evening flow: </h3>Doors open, Arrive and greet folks and settle in ~6:30Song container: 7-9p We teach songs call &amp; echo. We believe singing is a birthright and welcome all levels of experience. Science says our heartbeats sync up when we sing together . We aim to create an integrated space rooted in understandings of our historical context and current social realities. No matter your gender, sexual orientation, abilities, race, or housing status, you are not only welcome here, you belong here. It is one of our core values to utilize song to resist societal oppression and support liberation from the inside out.We hope you will bring the wholeness of who you are to this embodied experience of singing with full permission to be in movement, grief, laughter and more.<h3></h3><h3>Acknowledgment: </h3><h3>This event is taking place on the unceded territory of the the Anishinaabeg – The Three Fire Confederacy of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations, as well as the Wyandot Nation peoples.</h3><h3></h3><h3>Venue info: </h3>Ann Arbor Friends Meeting House @ 1420 Hill StreetTwo small parking lots (~12 spaces total) are located by the alley at the rear of the property, plus a handicap parking space. Parking is available on Olivia and Lincoln streets for a 2-hour maximum 8 AM – 6 PM weekdays. Handicap access is provided via a short ramp at the Meetinghouse front door, which must be opened manually with assistance. An elevator located at the back of the Meetinghouse provides access from the outside to the Meeting room/Corner Room level and to handicap-accessible restrooms in the Meetinghouse basement.<h3></h3><h3>S﻿liding scale: $22-55 </h3>Thank you for finding the sweet spot that&#x27;s both generous &amp; affordable for you! This event is designed for adults and may involve collective experiences of grieving, stories about healing from trauma, and occasional cuss words. While holding transformational space, Shireen leads infectious, soulful, and groove-based community songs, often engaging her participants in rhythm, because she believes strongly in music’s power to propel cultural revolution.
