Oak Grove Cemetery

Two-hour walking tours will begin at 1:00 PM, with groups of up to 12 participants leaving every 20 minutes. The final tour group will depart at 3:00 PM, and each tour will take about two hours to complete. Tour groups will meet at the Cemetery at 334 S. Sandusky Street, Delaware.Reenactors will tell the stories of prominent Delaware residents, including:<ul><li><ul><li>Fred Bauereis, Delaware Merchant, reenacted by Brent Carson</li><li>Prince Albert Mendenhall, as told by Watson Walker Jr and Nancy Fleming</li><li>Ezra Griswold, Delaware Gazette &amp; Postmaster, reenacted by David Hejmanowski</li><li>Charlotte Denison, Educator and officer of the family-owned Delaware Clay Co., as reenacted by Cat Hodge</li><li>Clarence Hazelton, Contractor &amp; Delaware Street Superintendent, reenacted by Steve Schmitt</li><li>Mary Grady, the namesake of Grady Memorial Hospital, reenacted by Laurie Schaefer</li><li>Remembering the Wells sisters: Helen, Mabel and Hazel, by Bev Larson</li></ul></li></ul>Groups will depart at 1:00 PM, 1:20 PM, 1:40 PM, 2:00 PM, 2:20 PM, 2:40 PM, and 3:00 PM. Tours will primarily follow cemetery roads, but it may be necessary to walk on some uneven ground during the tour. Participants are encouraged to wear flat, comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.In the event of inclement weather, a change of venue determination will be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the event. Should the forecast include poor weather, the event will be moved to The Barn at Stratford – 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware. Inclement weather communication will be emailed to registered attendees and posted to the DCHS Facebook page.
