A movement workshop that draws on dance, yoga, and holo-fractal theory to engage our "healical" nature, followed by a WIP showing

Drawing on dance, yoga, and holo-fractal theory, this workshop invites participants to engage with their “healical” nature. From micro to macro, from DNA to spiral movement, through breath, exercises, improvisation and phrase work, the class investigates the idea of “DNA repair” at many scales, allowing wellness, coordination and function to unfold as aesthetic.T﻿his workshop will be followed by a Work-in-Progress showing of a new piece Clark is working on that explores ideas introduced in the workshop. A﻿bout the Artist: Interdisciplinary movement artist, choreographer, teacher, and collaborator, Clark Avery Griffin hails from the California Bay Area and holds a BA in anthropology and dance from Princeton University and an MFA in Creative Practice from Trinity Laban Conservatoire where he graduated with distinction as a Leverhulme Trust and Gill Clarke Bursary Scholar. An award winning artist, he has performed internationally at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, Dance Umbrella, and Resolution Dance Festival with choreographer Liam Francis in his work Dual Till the Death. Previously, Clark was a member of Rambert Dance Company, where he performed works by Jermaine Spivy, Ohad Naharin and Andrea Miller. Clark’s MFA research engaged the fields of physics, ecology, speculative fiction, posthumanism, yoga and eastern philosophy and took a holographic, symbiotic, systems approach to art making and life, in which each component contains information and co-creatively connects to a holistic whole. His research culminated in a written dissertation and an evening length solo work titled Lo-Fi, Hi-Fi, DIY, Sci-Fi: An Experimental Pop Concert and the beginnings of a movement methodology synergizing helices, contra-fetal movement, dynamic entrainment and yogic practices. As an artist and person, Clark is interested in paradigmatic embodiment and evolution and works in a symbiotic, braiding relationship with creativity, with art and artists emerging and evolving together.
