Above the Arne Slettebak Planetarium is the Smith Lab Observatory, currently housing a 12-inch telescope. We offer "obsevatory nights" several times a year where anyone can join us in peering deep into the sky with our scopes. Visitors are also able to interact with real astronomers from The Ohio State University Department of Astronomy during these events.Information on all of these events can be found on our website.https://planetarium.osu.edu/

You do not need to print out paper tickets. We do electronic check-in by name at the door.
Night Sky 101 is a live show presented by astronomers or astronomy students. It is a 45-minute planetarium presentation, followed by 15 minutes of Q&amp;A with an expert astronomer.&nbsp;Night Sky 101&nbsp;covers basic naked-eye astronomy from the Earth. We cover many topics, including daily and annual motions of the sky, planets, and Sun, the orientation of the sky, locations of important points and well-known constellations, the seasons, and the appearance of the sky from different locations on the Earth.
The planetarium shows are not recommended for anyone not comfortable sitting in the dark for 45-minutes or more.

Planetarium Information
The OSU Planetarium is located on the 5th floor of <a href="http://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=065" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Smith Laboratory at 174 W 19th Ave</a>, on the OSU Main Campus in Columbus, Ohio. Access from the NE corner of Smith Lab on 19th Ave.<a href="http://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=065" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Map to Smith Laboratory</a>Enter through our main entrance at the northeast entrance of Smith Lab, follow signs to the northeast elevator (or the stairs) and take it up to the 5th floor. Note: The other building doors will likely be locked if it is not during normal university hours, and the other stairwells and elevators in the building do not go all the way up to the 5th floor, so you must work your way to the northeast corner to get to the planetarium. Please plan on arriving at least 5-10 minutes before the planetarium shows, since the doors will typically remain closed once the show begins.
