Public Lecture and Annual Conference

The Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies is proud to present our Annual Free Public Lecture on Fri, Sep 29 and our Annual Conference on Sat, Sep 30.  We invite you to bring a team of leaders from your church to learn a more powerful way to lead.

In Metro Detroit, Christian pastors and lay leaders are constantly called to work collaboratively in a changing and diverse religious and civic landscape. The Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies (IAPS),is proud to present “Your Potential in Giving Away Power: Leadership in Today&#x27;s Church” for our annual conference. Gathering nationally recognized pastors and leaders to speak about their experiences and insights regarding personal transformation, congregational growth, and civic engagement. This conference furthers our work to build a network of intentionally ecumenical and deliberately diverse Christian leaders. O﻿ur 2023 featured speakers are:<ul><li>D﻿r. Beth-Sarah Wright - Author, Speaker, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory School of Medicine</li><li>M﻿atthew Barzun - Top Obama Campaign Strategist, former US Ambassador to U.K. and Sweden</li><li>R﻿ev. Dr. Harold Dean Trulear - Professor of Applied Theology at Howard University</li></ul>Clergy can earn 1 CEU credit for the conference. IAPS is run in partnership by Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit and Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills. IAPS&#x27;s goal is to build a network of intentionally ecumenical and deliberately diverse Christian leaders and provide continuing education to faith leaders in Metro Detroit and now Atlanta as well.
