This class will be held outdoors at Lucky Ranch in Evergreen, CO. You will be sent an email with detailed instructions on how to get to the ranch and what you may want to bring/wear, several days before the class. This class includes all instruction and taking home the 2 large, inoculated logs you created in the class, or 1 log and 1 bag of spawn for a bed!
In this Mushroom Cultivation 101 class, we will be exploring the basics of what mushrooms are, how they grow and how to grow some of the simpler varieties of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms such as Oysters, Shiitake, Lion's Mane, Reishi and many more! We will delve into simple cultivation techniques such as log and bed style propagation that is easy for most people to do at home. You’ll learn hands on how to prepare, inoculate and care for both mushroom logs and beds. In addition, you’ll learn how to utilize resources in your environment to passively cultivate mushrooms as part of a permaculture system. The overall goal for this class is to familiarize newcomers with the fungi world, how to cultivate mushrooms in basic hands off methods and ultimately, how to think like a mushroom so we can utilize them more efficiently in our everyday lives!
