Founded in October 2009, Greenlight Bookstore is a general independent bookstore in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, which hosts literary events in-store and with partner venues. The mission of Greenlight Bookstore is to create welcoming spaces for discovery, conversation, and connection around books, through curation, programming and service that provides for the needs and interests of our customers and highlights creative work we love and value, based on a commitment to improving equity and sustainability in our company and our community. Through knowledgeable staff, curated book selection, community partnerships, and a robust e-commerce website as well as a beautiful bookstore spaces, Greenlight combines the best traditions of the neighborhood bookstore with a forward-looking sensibility. Created and hosted by writers Patrick Sauer and David J. Roth, Squawkin’ Sports is an ongoing series featuring book chats with grown-up authors writing about grown-ups playing kiddie games. This month, Squawkin' Sports is hosting a special in-person event at Die Stammkneipe Brooklyn (710 Fulton St.). 

Sauer and Roth chat with Mark Dent and Rustin Dodd co-authors of Kingdom Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs, and How a Once Swingin' Cow Town Chased the Ultimate Comeback. Fresh off of a gutsy, thrilling 2023 Super Bowl win for the Kansas City Chiefs, two inspiring stories that fit perfectly together—a biography of superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who brought the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in fifty years in 2019 as well as a second in 2023, along with the historical struggles and recent resurgence of the former “Paris of the Plains,” Kansas City.
