WikiConference North America

The conference began in 2014 as WikiConference USA, first hosted at the New York Law School and the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C. It has received consistent support from the Wikimedia Foundation, as well as the Wiki Education Foundation, Wikimedia New York City, and Wikimedia District of Columbia. Though several annual conferences are associated with the Wikimedia movement, WikiConference North America is the only one with official Affiliate status. Previous conferences were held in New York City (2014), Washington D.C. (2015), San Diego (2016), Montreal (2017), and Columbus (2018). CredCon and MisinfoCon are the preeminent series of interdisciplinary credibility and misinformation conferences in the world. Hacks/Hackers and the Credibility Coalition have regularly held 150-person CredCon and MisinfoCon events in cities around the world, including: London; Kyiv; Austin, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Cambridge; and Scotland.

<A HREF="http://wikiconference.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WikiConference North America</A> is partnering with the <A HREF="http://credibilitycoalition.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Credibility Coalition</A> at this year's conference to address the verification chain for knowledge, from reliable news production to dissemination through reference sites like Wikipedia to reliable long term discovery and access. This conference will feature presentations on Wikimedia-related activities and tools, workshops to improve the skills of editors, and discussions for the past, present, and future of the Wikimedia movement. Participants come from a wide variety of backgrounds including academia, museums, libraries and technology companies.
