Mendocino Coast Clinics

Lunch & Learn-A Nonprofit Training Series (Coast)

A ten-month series of workshops on the Mendocino coast designed to empower nonprofit teams with the fundamental skills for success and inspire a vibrant network of change makers.

This workshop provides guidance on running your small non-profit organization so that the mission and goals are accomplished; staff are committed and supported; board members are engaged and understand their role; and the work gets done efficiently and creatively without burnout. This workshop will focus on:<ul><li>Key concepts of communication, coordination, consistency, cooperation, compassion, and clarity</li><li>Concepts of Lean and Six Sigma</li><li>Concept of the servant leader</li><li>Approaches for challenging operational issues</li></ul>Please bring the objectives and questions you have for this workshop. Also, please bring two examples of difficult operational situations that you have encountered. This is an interactive and hands-on workshop. 
Linda Jo Stern is an experienced and seasoned manager with a lifetime of experience in domestic and international public health. After retiring in 2016 as a health care administrator, she came to live and work in Fort Bragg. She founded and worked as the coordinator of Coastal Street Medicine in Fort Bragg for five years. She was the interim Executive Director of Safe Passage Family Resource Center in 2019. Presently she is a volunteer patient navigator at the Cancer Resource Center. 
Linda Jo managed primary care clinics and community health centers in Boston and Cambridge. Her international work includes the creation of a community health program in the mountain villages of Honduras; working on HIV/AIDS in Mozambique; and supporting women’s health programs in 14 countries including Ecuador, Peru, Timor, Nepal, and Kenya. Her previous work experience includes directing the oldest domestic violence organization in Boston; directing and managing a $30 million federal nutrition program for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; managing the social service department for a large Boston teaching hospital; working in three community health centers in the Boston area; founding two cooperative businesses; and working for VISTA (now AmeriCorps) in rural New England. 
Linda Jo received her B.S. degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut and her Master’s in Public Health (MPH) was granted by the Boston University School of Public Health where she served as an adjunct faculty member for 23 years. 
Linda Jo’s expertise lies in management, leadership, training, and mentoring; in the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects; and in cultural competence, community involvement and participation.
