Lunch & Learn-A Nonprofit Training Series (Coast)

A ten-month series of workshops on the Mendocino coast designed to empower nonprofit teams with the fundamental skills for success and inspire a vibrant network of change makers.

Power dynamics, personal history with money, cultural values, and even personality type can all play a role in what makes asking for money challenging. This session is aimed at examining barriers volunteers and staff may have in relation to making “the ask” on behalf of your organization and exploring strategies to overcome these barriers. This interactive session will include opportunities to practice making an ask and how to prepare for an “ask meeting”. 
Miquette Thompson is a skilled fundraiser and fund development generalist, focused on helping organizations find practical, cost-effective solutions to meet their needs. Miquette has raised significant funds and built development capacity for many different types of nonprofits, from direct human services providers, to intermediary grantmakers, to arts and advocacy organizations. Having earned a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco, and a Certified Fundraising Executive credential from CFRE International, Miquette has the knowledge base needed to strengthen your organization&#x27;s fund development work. 
In addition to a strong understanding of development best practices, Miquette has also received extensive training in a variety of social justice frameworks that center justice and equity for marginalized communities. This training serves as a central underpinning in Miquette’s approach to development work, and she believes that nonprofits of every size and budget deserve to have access to the tools they need to build strong fundraising capacity.
