Consisting of Jayce Haley, Nolan Brumbach, Jay LeCavalier, and brothers, Rex and Finn Stowers, the band solidified in 2019 after years of university bands came to an end.After cutting their teeth in the Fort Collins music scene, the band took the music into their own hands and released their first self-recorded EP, Eyes/Takes a Minute in July 2020. The following year the band released an additional two self-recorded full-length albums in 2021, IT! (January 2021) and THAT! (September 2021).IT! demonstrates what The Crooked Rugs can do in a more freeform package with a wide array of expertly crafted songs that evoke a plethora of psych-rock influences. THAT! comes across as the opposite, as it displays how the band can harness a singular sonic idea and ride with it.The Rugs started the next year by releasing a spaghetti-western titled Tales of the Great Western Sky (April 2022). A concept album that blended psych moments with classic western rock riffsStarting 2023 with a bang, The Rugs will release their fourth full length record: METROPOLIS. More accurately, Social Cinema is the latest chapter in a decade-plus friendship and artistic journey evolving alongside the people behind the music.Austin Engler and brothers Griffin and Logan Bush formed Kill Vargas in 2013 as teenagers in KS. Along the way, the trio would cross paths with NE band, Death Cow, featuring Mari Crisler and Reed Tiwald. Between sharing bills and sleeping on each other's couches after shows in the Midwest DIY scene, the 5 became inseparably close, eventually joining forces in 2021 as Social Cinema.Social Cinema makes an immediate impression with seasoned songwriting chops and a road-hardened work ethic. Since forming in 2021, the alt/indie rock quintet has issued three EPs — 2022’s Debut 'Causing Scenes' and 'Repeat' and 'Get Along' in 2023, and has shared bills with the likes of Metric, Saint Motel, Bad Bad Hats, Slothrust, and more.Social Cinema is gearing up to share its next EP and second in 2023. Formed in 2022 on colorado’s front range, they’ve been bringing their wildly disruptive live shows to venues across the mountain west at an incredible pace.
