C﻿hris "Sweetnur" Nurthen is a singer/songwriter based out of Memphis, TN and 2015 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. After serving his commitment in the Navy, Nurthen chose to rejoin civilian life in 2020 and moved with his family to Memphis to pursue his music career. Since then, Nurthen’s prolific songwriting and entertaining House Shows have garnered him a growing fanbase and wider critical acclaim. He was recently recognized as “One to Watch” by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). One of his songs won a 2021 NSAI Best Song Award nomination and was named one of the NSAI Top 40 Songs of the Year, while also being named one of the Top 10 Finalists in the 22nd Annual Nashville Songwriters(NSAI) Song Contest, presented by CMT. In 2022, Chris entered his “Sophomore season” since his debut almost a decade ago with a series of original singles and his EP, “Central Station”.Americana Highways raves about Nurthen’s “powerful tone &amp; phrasing” saying that “he has touches of Dave Matthews &amp; David Gray.” Jake’s Take likens Nurthen to John Mellencamp and Van Morrison, noting “like both men, SweetNur has superb storytelling ability and captures folk rock as well.” He would stamp his style of music as Americana, but doesn't hesitate to put a touch of folk, pop, rock, and country into the mix to keep listeners on their toes! The concept of his unique "HouseShow" concert experience originated when the Sweetnurs first arrived in Memphis and needed a way to promote his music. Chris and his wife, Keri, had converted a horse trailer into a food trailer and created what they call the "iron pie"--with an elaborate menu of sweet and savory concoctions, they press sandwiches between pie irons over a fire for a fresh, hot "flavor blast". Then, they find a willing host to open their doors and act as the music venue, Chris and Keri serve up the food and he performs his music. This year they are ready to take their show on the road. Ben is a Philadelphia native, now based out of Annapolis, MD and New York City. He is an actor, writer, and musician, most recently seen as the lead role in Bandstand for Connecticut’s Playhouse on Park. Previous noteworthy performances include playing Charlie in Kinky Boots and the Beast in Choir of Man on the Norwegian Cruise Line! Ben has also performed at the Palace Theatre in New Hampshire, and the REV Theatre in New York. BUT he also can play the role of a really good songwriter! He loves playing and singing with his family and loved ones and he jumps at every chance he gets to do so. They train American heroes in the culinary arts to become future business owners while giving back to the community.
