<h2>Crickets in Our Backyard</h2><h3>works of Tania León,* Wang Lu, Ayanna Woods* (our 2022-2023 Resident Composer)</h3><h3>words of Rita Dove, Forrest Gander, Ayanna Woods</h3><h3>with (the extraordinary) Claire Chase, flute</h3><p>* world premieres</p><p>The Crossing kicks off the 2023-2024 Season: Sin Eating with Crickets in our Backyard, featuring the world premiere of a new work from Tania León, based on poetry of U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove, written for The Crossing and renowned, mind-bendingly virtuosic flutist and MacArthur Fellow Claire Chase, a frequent collaborator with conductor Donald Nally. Wang Lu’s At Which Point, a 2021 commission on poetry of Pulitzer Laureate Forrest Gander, will be reprised, and a new work from The Crossing’s 2022-2023 Resident Composer, Ayanna Woods, will be premiered.</p><p>J﻿oin us for a pre-concert talk with Donald, Tania, and Ayanna at 5:45p in the Chapel.</p><p>F﻿ollowing this Philadelphia performance, &quot;Crickets in Our Backyard&quot; will tour to Yale University (9/19) and Harvard University (9/21).</p>
