European Research Night is back at RCSI for an interactive evening of mind-blowing discoveries and cutting-edge research.

Join us at 26 York Street, RCSI University of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences for this year’s European Research Night in collaboration with Trinity START (Start Talking About Research Today) program. We will focus on advancements in cancer research and ways we can all be proactive in early detection. This event will be a combination of public lectures, poster exhibition and interactive sessions to demonstrate the processes involved in diagnosing cancer. 5:30pm: <ul><li>We’ll begin the evening with some refreshments outside the Desmond lecture theatre. </li></ul>6 - 7pm: Our fantastic speakers on the night will be: <ul><li>Amir Hameed - Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine at RCSI. He is a Principal Investigator with the Tissue Engineering Research Group (TERG) and is co-founder of Pumpinheart Ltd. who are devloping a medical device for the treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.</li><li>Daniela Ottaviani - Postdocterate research fellow in the Endocrine Oncology Research Group. Her work looks at the networks involved in treatment resistant metastatic breast cancer. </li><li>Kevin McGuigan - Director of the RCSI Solar Disinfection Research Group which develops appropriate solar-based technologies for water treatment in resource-poor rural environments. Prof. McGuigan will be speaking about his life-changing research in this field. </li></ul>7 - 8pm:<ul><li> All are welcome to visit RCSI SIM Centre for Simulation Education &amp; Research where healthcare professionals will be on hand to provide demonstrations and information on the screening processes and the steps involved following a diagnosis. Learn self-assessment techniques from our expert tutors to help identify any changes early and demystify the screening processes. </li></ul><ul><li>Exhibition of the current cutting edge research that is ongoing in RCSI. Researchers will be at hand to discuss their work and answer any questions or queries. See what&#x27;s happening in the world of healthcare research. </li></ul>Please note that this event will not provide opportunity for diagnosis, personal medical questions or physical checks by healthcare professionals. Please contact your GP if you have clinical concerns.This is a free event, but registering is essential.
