We are proud to offer world-class performances to our audiences in Los Angeles as we pursue our mission to be the finest chamber orchestra in the United States consisting mostly of non-professional musicians.Formed in 2016, the Vicente Chamber Orchestra has grown from a few volunteer musicians to an orchestra consisting of nearly 59 musicians. The Vicente Chamber Orchestra has many concerts to date, each with substantial audience support and recognition.The Vicente Chamber Orchestra is a  501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Come and experience a sensational performance of this epic work with the extraordinarily talented pianist Talon Smith and the fabulous Maestro Khan and Vicente Chamber Orchestra.Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D major is a cheery, pastoral symphony that will radiate energy and optimism from start to finish under the baton of Maestro Kahn conducting the Vicente Chamber Orchestra.

TALON SMITHInternationally acclaimed, award-winning 21-year-old virtuoso pianist and composer Talon Smith inspires audiences with his emotionally moving, intensely poetic, impeccably colored, and technically stunning performances. Talon won his first international competition at age 14. From there, his career continues to soar with an abundance of triumphant achievements, including more than 40 top prizes—1st place almost exclusively—in over 40 competitions.Talon is a “two thumbs up” Gramophone favorite, winning their highest praises—they described Talon as a “master pianist with an old soul...lifting the music...into the opera house, as if there were a great orchestra in tow” and “evoking memories of Josef Hoffman's 1937 legendary Golden Jubilee performance." ZAIN KHANMaestro Zain Khan studied viola at USC's Thornton School of Music (BM, Class of ’93). An accomplished violist, Zain has performed Principal with many orchestras throughout Southern California including the New West Symphony, Mozart Camerata, Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, American Youth Symphony, YMF Debut Orchestra, and many others. A recipient of the Percy Faith Award at USC's Thornton School of Music, Zain studied viola with Alan De Veritch and chamber music with Milton Thomas. After graduating from USC, Zain spent much of his twenties in pursuit of his dream of conducting, which included studying with Lord Yehudi Menuhin while he toured with the Sinfonia Varsovia and a summer at the famed Chigiana Academy in Siena, Italy. However, it was Mehli Mehta, the Founder and Conductor of the American Youth Symphony, who inspired Zain, and countless other young musicians, to love music. During his tenure with the American Youth Symphony, Zain performed as Principal Violist and later became the Assistant Conductor to Maestro Mehta. It was Zain that initiated the American Youth Symphony's Outreach Program, which brought music and instrumental lessons to dozens of public schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District. Zain is the founder of Vicente Chamber Orchestra (VCO). The VCO gave its first performance on Saturday, November 16, 2016. PROGRAM NOTES:Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3:Sergei Rachmaninoff composed his Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, in 1909. This work is in three movements. In the opening movement (Allegro ma non tanto), the soloist, Talon Smith, will enter after two bars of orchestral introduction, playing the first of two principal themes. The opening movement is notable throughout for the soloist’s dazzling passagework which Talon will mesmerize us with. The slow second movement is a lyrical Intermezzo (Adagio), punctuated briefly by a vivacious scherzando passage. The soloist launches a dramatic bridge to the Finale (Alla breve), which follows without pause. Talon will present the fanfare-like opening theme, which is followed by a series of syncopated chords that develops into the flowing second theme. After a capricious central interlude and a recapitulation of the opening themes, a majestic coda capped by a cascade of octaves brings the Concerto to a stunning close.Brahms Symphony No. 2:Johannes Brahms composed his Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, in 1877. The cheery and almost pastoral symphony is in four movements and often invites comparisons with Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. The first movement (Allegro non troppo) opens with the cellos and basses intoning a three-note motif that will return in various guises throughout the Symphony. The movement also includes a waltz-like theme that recalls the composer’s beloved “Lullaby,” Op. 49 No. 4 (1868). The slow second movement (Adagio non troppo) alternates lyrical repose with moments of tension, not resolved until the final bars. The third movement (Allegretto grazioso) opens with the oboe’s presentation of the sprightly principal melody that alternates with fleet interludes. The concluding movement (Allegro con spirito), the most cheerful finale among Brahms’s four Symphonies, radiates energy and optimism from start to finish.
